Almonds are the most nutritious type of nuts.
Almonds, although a high-calorie food (a handful, ie 30 g of almonds provide 165 calories) are an important source of vitamin E, magnesium, calcium, fiber, protein, potassium, phosphorus, iron and monounsaturated fats.
Almonds are a good source:
fiber
proteins
calcium iron
vitamin E and folic acid
monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids (omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids in smaller quantities)
flavonoids (in the skin)
phytosterols.
