The herb is a diuretic and cleanses the urinary system, but unlike other diuretic herbs it does not deprive the body of potassium - the large amount of potassium it contains replenishes the body's losses.
It is claimed that Taraxacum helps increase bile flow and stimulates both the liver and the bile duct (a property that many claim is due to the substance Taraxin it contains).
The herb seems to have a strong antibacterial effect and according to Chinese herbalists it may be effective even in very "strong" bacteria (cases of pneumonia, diphtheria, staph, etc.).
There are reports that taking Taraxacum lowers cholesterol, improves glandular function, helps maintain a normal body weight and has a positive effect on all liver diseases.
Taraxacum is said to be one of the best herbs for stimulating, detoxifying and regulating the functions of the human body.
A decoction can be made if you leave it in boiling water for about 15 minutes (estimate that you will need about 1 teaspoon of dried herb for 1 "cup" of drink).
According to herbalists you can consume up to 3 cups of Taraxacum a day (morning, noon, evening before meals).
